Golf runs in Hugo’s DNA. Born in Dublin and raised in northern Sweden, he grew up with strong pedigree - his father, Peter Townsend, is a former PGA Tour player and two-time Ryder Cup competitor. Hugo rose to No. 1 in Sweden’s junior ranks and earned a spot on the Swedish National Team. In college, he became the first two-time Mountain West Conference Golfer of the Year, earned All-American honors, and later landed on the Haskins Award Watch List at Ole Miss. After finishing 11th at the 2023 Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed with a closing 64, he turned professional, climbed through the Nordic Golf League to the Challenge Tour, and secured his 2026 DP World Tour card with a win at the GAC Rosa Challenge.
